For me, if someone has a good idea then let’s go with it. I don’t have an ego about it. I don’t care who thought of it. A good idea is a good idea. So, let’s go with it.
However, when I look at American politics today, I don’t see that. Increasingly, the political viewpoint is that you’re either with us or against us. If it’s the other party’s idea then it’s no good. Each party seems to be dominated be the most extreme ends of the political spectrum. I see where both 2008 Presidential candidates are being criticized for moving toward the center, where the most votes exist. Think about that. Most votes exist where most Americans fall on the political spectrum. So, who is running the parties? Apparently, it’s not most Americans.
So, what does this all mean? Where is it going? Right now it looks like the road to ruin. The extremes of the parties are driving away the sane man. Consequently, only the mad apply.
Today, when asked my party affiliation I say the American Party. I vote for what is best for America. As a result, I am a man alone – along with most of America.
